Superb way to spend a Sunday in Mamelodi

This past weekend we visited Mathebula's Sunday Cookout which happens quarterly every year since 2017. This time it was hosted at Santorini Lounge in Mamelodi West.
On arrival we were greeted by an enticing smell of food and 🎵Erykah Badu's "I want you". Thats's when i knew it was going to be a good couple of hours at this event.
The setup was quite cool, on the street with plenty of seating surrounded by food stalls and the Dj booth spaced nicely for those who wanted to jam closer to the sound source (and they sure did!)
What I like about the cookout according to the founder, Thabang Mathebula, is that they want to showcase and empower culinary variety in Mamelodi as the food ranged from Tlhakwana to gourmet burgers. There were also goodies like home made ginger beer, cocktails and baked goods available.

To top it off the music added a "feel good" vibe to the atmosphere during the day with a bit of alternative rnb here and there in between the chilled and nostalgic sounds which i think was appropriate, after all Sundays are for taking it easy akere?
So if this sounds like your kinda vibe or you're looking to try something new, the next cookout will be in July. Lookout for details on @mathebulassundaycookout on Facebook, Insta and Twitter.
