Last week I had the pleasure of meeting Nozipho Ngoma and Kealeboga Mokomane, the founders of a youth empowerment organization called GenZet and their mission is to unlock endless opportunities that will break the cycle of inter-generational poverty.
And breaking this cycle involves education, an education that is unfortunately sometimes disrupted by a lack of basic needs like sanitary pads for girls who cannot afford it. Recently in South Africa tax has been removed from sanitary pads to make them more affordable but we still need to make sanitary products totally free especially for those in poor, rural communities because female students have been missing out on school as they do not have money to buy pads.

Through an initiative called "Share the dignity" helping girls to never miss a school day , the Genzet team distributed about 400 packets of pads to 200 young ladies at Rephafogile High School in Lusaka, Mamelodi as their first pad drive.
For the founders of GenZet it's not only about distributing sanitary products, it's also about empowering young minds and igniting the determination to be great people one day. Kealeboga and Nozipho had an insightful chat with the Rephafogile girls about dignity, self love and how to reach their goals.
Another objective of theirs as an organization is that they would like to get our communities involved in the well being of our youth. It could takes years for our government to provide sanitary free pads for those in need but in the mean time it is up to individuals to support schools and initiatives like "Share the dignity" in distributing sanitary care products.
GenZet will be running the project throughout the year with Pad Drives, Talks and Lunches around schools in Pretoria. Find out how to donate, support or sponsor on their
instagram | info@genzet.co.za or contact 082 567 0570 / 064 330 1991
You can purchase any sanitary products and the GenZet ladies will come and collect.
Every contribution makes a huge difference.
Lets help share the dignity.
